Josh Marshall's Hyperbolic Imperative

Obama supporter Josh Marshall of TPM piously writes:

I don't think there's any question that McCain's is the dirtiest and most dishonest campaign, certainly in the last 35 years and possibly going much further back into the early 20th century. ... McCain's campaign has charted new territory in deliberate lying and appeals to racism and xenophobia.

This is from a supporter of a Chicago Democrat, who, in his first-ever run for elective office, had all of his Democratic Party opponents thrown off the ballot for the Illinois State Senate in 1996 -- including the sitting incumbent, who won the previous election cycle with 83% of the vote.

This of course is not dirty or dishonest to Obama supporters like Marshall-- it is merely evidence of Obama's 'toughness' forged in the 'rough-and-tumble' nature of Chicago politics. Remarkable.

Um, you do realize that nothing you've just said disproves Marshall's claim, right?

It's still true that McCain is running a disgusting, xenophobic, and racist campaign--and nothing you say about Obama's 1996 election changes that.

PS: and it's one reason why McCain will lose. He deserves to.

Yeah, that's right. Anything that questions the Messiah must be "racist". You Obamatrons have so devalued the whole concept of "racism" that it now means zero. It's a joke. For real racism look at the anti-semitic church that Obama went to for twenty years.What is disgusting is that MLK spoke about judging a man's character and not his skin color and yet you idiots think any criticism of The Messiah's character must be "racist" because of his color. No, the real racists are people like Rush Limbaugh and George Will, who are claiming that the only reason Powell endorsed Obama is his race. AYRTS? IA?

And you still have said nothing to disprove Marshall's claim: McCain is running a hateful, xenophobic campaign.

He's also going to lose because of it.

If Obama loses it will likely be because of the left's unrestrained hatred of Joe the Plumber and your own constant whining about racism. So thanks for that.

I mean, for God's sake, one of the few things the left-wing press has been willing to criticize Obama for is falsely accusing McCain of racism.

Sorry, that's not how it works.

You failed to give any reason for disagreeing with Marshall's claim. Instead you sneered about some election from 12 years ago.

I pointed out, repeatedly now, that those allegations don't do anything to disprove Marshall's claim.

See, for you to disagree with Marshall, you have to engage with his argument and provide reasons for thinking it's false. Unless and until you do that, I don't have to 'prove' anything to you.

When will people incapable of understanding reason and logic realise how pathetic it makes them look? My guess is November 5th.

I held my nose and went to read Josh Marshall's post, and he gives no examples of McCain's racism. Perhaps you could help us out.

I've asked you to provide some examples to back up Marshall's and your claims that McCain has run a 'racist, etc.' campaign.

You've provided none, and told me "that's not how it works."

How am I to provide arguments against that which does not exist?

McCain's campaign is simply exposing the failures of the DNC and American media to vet a little known Chicago politician, who seems to have more skeletons in his closet and under the bus than seen in decades.

You can not prove a negative. McCain has never said one thing that is racist.
Obama on the other hand has talked about faces on the dollar bills, fantasy attacks on his name, calling Bill Clinton racist, etc.
If you go into Obama's supporters, there is NOT ONE ad that McCain ran this is not deemed racist. So, to Obama supporters, since EVERYTHING is racist to them, then McCain must be running the worst campaign ever.
Reality shows though, that although McCain does run negative ads, race is never involved and Obama runs FAR more negative ads than McCain.
